Arizona is a great state to celebrate Christmas. We also have many fun and interesting cities in our state, and they are particularly bright and beautiful during Christmas and the New Year’s Eve.
One of the best things about Christmas are the Christmas lights. There’s no better way to spend an evening than to take your partner and/or the kids and see the Christmas lights.
So which are the best places to see Christmas lights in Arizona?
#1: ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo, Phoenix
The Phoenix Zoo offers one of the most fascinating Christmas light displays you will ever see with ZooLight. The display starts in December, which means it’s already on at the time of this writing. Why don’t you go and take a look?
The Phoenix Zoo is full of tall trees, some of them as tall as a multi-story building and they are all attractively decked out in bright lights during this time. In addition to watching the festive light display, you can go on a camel ride or horse ride at night.
The best place to take photos is by the lake, where the lights reflect off the water surface and the feeling is completely magical. Kids just love the Phoenix Zoo and it really is something at this time of the year.
#2: Glendale Glitters, Glendale
One of Arizona’s brightest and most interesting festive lights display is at Glendale Glitters in the charming town of Glendale. You have almost two million LED lights here mounted across 16 blocks of the town.
Almost everything is covered with lights, every tree, plant, house, shop and building. There are music events, rock concerts and other fun stuff going on. The Christmas lights display starts in the last week of November and lasts until the first week of January every year. Are you up for a drive to Glendale this week?
#3: ZooLights at Reid Park Zoo, Tucson
The Reid Park Zoo is one of the biggest attractions in the city of Tucson, popular with kids and parents alike. The Zoo comes alive during Christmas, which is when the holiday lights are put on display.
The ZooLights, as they are called, are certainly creatively designed. You have hanging lights that create different types of animal shapes, dinosaurs, Disney characters and other awesome stuff – kids love that! You can listen to live Christmas music, which sounds particularly lovely during this time of the year. Just a great way to spend the Holidays with the family!
#4: WildLights at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary, Prescott
WildLights at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary in Prescott has an amazing display of Christmas lights and fireworks during this time of the year. This is a great place to take your kids to. The children get to pet cute little animals and take selfies with Santa, while you go shopping in the gift shop close by.
#5: North Pole Experience at the Little America Hotel, Flagstaff
Flagstaff is about a 2-hour drive from Phoenix. They have a glorious festive light display every year at the Little America Hotel called as the North Pole Experience. The kids get to take a trolley ride to the North Pole, meet Santa, take photos with him and other fun stuff. Give it a try!
